Big Monday by Miguel Costa Photography

On October 28th, 2013, a gigantic swell hit the west coast of Portugal.
In a small fishing village called Nazaré, a place known for a special feature in the ocean bed, known as the North Canyon, waves were as big as 20 meters (about 60 feet) high. A very special group of big wave surfers from all around the world, came to this spot to ride these gigantic and powerful waves.
Apart from an accident with the Brazilian big wave surfer girl Maya Gabeira, which almost costed her life, all the surfers returned safe to the fishing harbor, and the surfing session is going to the surfing history books.
All the crew was led by the Hawaiian Garrett McNamara, known world wide for big wave riding.

When I was a kid I saw a skater jumping for the first time, I believed it was magic that made him fly. I realized that this has been a childish fantasy. But this year we decided to bring back my dream.

A Christmas Message From Edward Snowden by Gendo

http://vimeo.com/82666985
On December 25th 2013 Edward Snowden delivered an alternative Christmas message on the UK’s channel 4 TV station. Before the broadcast a short version of the speech was leaked and immediatly uploaded to youtube. That upload was immediatly blocked but many re-uploads made the clip available everywhere. This is one of those places. If you want to thank Edward Snowden for giving up his relationship, familiy, job and any chance of a normal life to inform us all go here (http://freesnowden.is/donate/index.html) and donate. Or spread his message. And do something with it. Because if something is done all of Edward’s sacrifices have meaning.
